Mammograms at Planned Parenthood?

My wife and I were discussing the tussle between Planned Parenthood (PP) and The Koman Foundation that provided a grant to PP to provide mammograms and cancer screenings at their clinics. I remarked that I had never heard of someone getting a mammogram at PP. She was willing give them the benefit of the doubt but neither of us knew for sure.

Planned Parenthood's web site has a mammogram page but under the "where to get a mammogram" heading says:

"Ask your health care provider, health department, or staff at your local Planned Parenthood health center about where you can get a mammogram in your area."

It appears that PP doesn't do mammograms itself but tells client where to go to get them.

A second approach was to look at the PP web listing for the 22 PP offices in Mn, ND  and SD. At none of these clinic are mammograms provided or even mentioned. Breast cancer screening is also done via physical exams done by a health professional. Again such screening is not mention as a service at any of the PP offices in our region but PP claims that these "clinical breast exams' are one of their services.

Such clinical screenings, if positive, would be followed up with mammograms elsewhere before any aggressive treatment for cancer would be undertaken.
